As Men’s Mental Health Month 2026 is observed across the world, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, has called on men to prioritize their mental wellbeing, stressing that mentally healthy men are vital to building stable families and a prosperous society.

In a statement personally signed by her, the Commissioner noted that many men silently battle emotional and psychological challenges daily but often fail to seek help until such struggles begin to affect their families, workplaces, and overall health.

According to her, while the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development is primarily dedicated to the welfare and wellbeing of women, girls, and vulnerable persons, it also recognizes the importance of supporting the mental health of men because of the critical role they play in family and community development.

“Mentally healthy men build stable homes, and stable homes form the foundation of the Edo State of our dreams. As we mark Men’s Mental Health Month 2026, I encourage every man to speak up, seek support, and never suffer in silence. Mental health is not a sign of weakness; it is an essential part of healthy living,” she stated.

Hon. Abdallah also commended the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for creating an enabling environment that promotes inclusion, healthcare, security, hope, and human development through the SHINE Agenda.

She expressed confidence that mentally healthy fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons contribute significantly to stronger families, safer communities, and a better future for the next generation.

The Commissioner further urged citizens to be more supportive of one another by listening, caring, and showing empathy towards those facing mental health challenges.
She reminded men that they are valued and important members of society and that support is available for those who need it.

“Men, always remember this: you are valued, you are important, and help is always available for you to access. Prioritize your mental health,” she said.
