The Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, has called on African children to remain focused, hardworking, and hopeful as the world commemorates the 2026 International Day of the African Child.

In a statement marking the occasion, Abdallah joined the global community in celebrating African children and reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s commitment to promoting their rights, welfare, education, health, and overall well-being.

She described the day as an important opportunity to recognize the dreams, talents, and limitless potential of every African child, stressing that children deserve a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

According to the commissioner, African children represent the future leaders, innovators, and change makers of the continent and should be encouraged to pursue their aspirations with determination and confidence.

Abdallah further assured that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development would continue to advocate policies and programmes aimed at safeguarding children’s rights and creating opportunities for them to achieve their full potential.

She urged stakeholders, parents, guardians, and development partners to work collectively towards building a society where every child is protected, empowered, and given the opportunity to succeed.

The commissioner wished children across Edo State and Africa a happy International Day of the African Child, while reiterating the government’s commitment to their development and welfare.
