Ogbemudia Appreciates Governor Okpebholo, Stakeholders as She Marks First Year in Office

The Director-General of the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Dr. Amen Ogbemudia, has marked her first anniversary in office with a message of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to advancing quality education in Edo State.

Speaking during her one-year appreciation ceremony, Dr. Ogbemudia thanked God Almighty for His grace and acknowledged the support of the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, whose confidence, leadership, and commitment to education have inspired stakeholders to pursue excellence, accountability, and improved learning outcomes across the state.

She also expressed appreciation to the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor Esq., former Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Head of Service, Dr. Anthony Okungbowa and the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani Okpebholo, for their guidance, encouragement, and support.

The DEQA boss further commended the leadership of SSEB, SUBEB, and BTVET, Chief Inspectors of Education across the eighteen local government areas, DEQA staff, school administrators, teachers, development partners, and other stakeholders for their contributions to strengthening educational standards and accountability in Edo State.

Reflecting on her first year in office, Dr. Ogbemudia emphasized that leadership is about service, institution building, and creating lasting impact.

As part of the celebration, Awards of Excellence were presented to all Chief Inspectors of Education and other deserving staff members for their dedication and outstanding service. Speaking on behalf of the CIEs, their Secretary thanked the Director-General for her motherly love, exemplary leadership, and unwavering support since assuming office. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a specially crafted wall clock to Dr. Ogbemudia by DEQA staff as a token of appreciation for her impactful leadership.

Looking ahead, she reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening quality assurance, upholding educational standards, and ensuring that every child in Edo State has access to quality education. She concluded by praying for God’s continued wisdom and guidance for Governor Monday Okpebholo and all stakeholders working to advance the education sector in the state.
