The Director-General of the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability (DEQA), Edo State, Dr. Amen Ogbemudia, has congratulated the 18 Chairmen-elect, their Vice Chairmen-elect, and the 192 Ward Councilors-elect across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State on their victory in the recently concluded Local Government Council Elections.
In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Directorate, Dr. Ogbemudia described the electoral victories as well deserved and a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust reposed in the elected officials by the people of their respective local government areas.
According to her, the mandate bestowed on the newly elected leaders is not only a reward for their commitment and service but also a call to provide selfless, visionary, and accountable leadership that will bring meaningful development to the grassroots.
Dr. Ogbemudia urged the Chairmen-elect, Vice Chairmen-elect, and Councilors-elect to see their emergence as an opportunity to champion policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of the people, strengthen local governance, and promote transparency, inclusiveness, and prudent management of public resources.
She commended the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for providing an enabling environment that ensured the conduct of a peaceful, free, fair, credible, and rancour-free Local Government Council Election across the state.
The DEQA Director-General noted that Governor Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, upholding the rule of law, and guaranteeing a level playing field for all political actors further reinforced public confidence in the democratic process and reflected his administration’s dedication to good governance and democratic consolidation in Edo State.
Emphasising the critical role of local governments in driving sustainable development, Dr. Ogbemudia encouraged the newly elected officials to prioritise the welfare of the people, foster unity, and work collaboratively to deliver impactful projects and programmes that would improve the quality of life in their respective communities.
She further reaffirmed DEQA’s commitment to partnering with local government administrations in promoting quality education, accountability, and initiatives that will contribute to the overall development and prosperity of Edo State.
Dr. Ogbemudia prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom, courage, patience, and strength upon all the elected officials as they prepare to assume office, expressing confidence that their tenure would be marked by peace, remarkable achievements, and enduring legacies.
She wished them a successful and impactful tenure and urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to serving the people with integrity, dedication, and excellence.
