A socio-cultural group, the Concerned Edo Citizens Forum (CECF), has endorsed the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Senator Joseph Ikpea, for re-election in the 2027 general election.
The endorsement was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Convener of the group, Comrade Roy Oribhabor, and the Director of Publicity and Mobilization, Felix Osagie.
According to the group, Senator Ikpea has demonstrated effective, people-oriented representation within a short period in office, earning the confidence and support of the people of Edo Central Senatorial District.
The group also announced the inauguration of a 25-man committee to coordinate activities aimed at ensuring the senator’s successful re-election to the National Assembly.
“We have watched with great interest and determination the performance of Senator Joseph Ikpea within a very short period as the representative of the good people of Edo Central Senatorial District,” the statement read.
It added that following a meeting of the executive committee of the Concerned Edo Citizens Forum in Igueben, members unanimously concluded that Senator Ikpea’s representation has been people-oriented and masses-driven.
Describing the lawmaker as calm, humble, and passionate about the welfare of his constituents, the group said he has distinguished himself as a visionary leader committed to changing the narrative in Esanland.
“As critical stakeholders in the Edo State project, committed to protecting the interests of our people, we call on the people of Esanland to support Senator Joseph Ikpea in the 2027 general election.
“We therefore state unequivocally that Senator Joseph Ikpea deserves to continue serving as the distinguished Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, and we hereby endorse him for re-election.”
The group said the newly inaugurated 25-man committee would spearhead mobilization efforts across the senatorial district to secure victory for the senator at the polls.
It stressed that the people of Edo Central should continue to support leaders with proven records of credibility, competence, and effective representation.
The forum also appealed to all political parties, candidates, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully during the electioneering period.
“We call on all candidates and voters to remain law-abiding throughout the campaign period and avoid actions capable of undermining the democratic process for personal interests.
“Senator Joseph Ikpea remains our preferred candidate and, in our assessment, the most qualified among those who have indicated interest in the Edo Central Senatorial seat.
“He is the right man for the job, and we urge the people to join us in returning him to the Senate in 2027,” the statement concluded.
