The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his 56th birthday, describing him as a leader deeply committed to the progress and wellbeing of the people.

In a congratulatory message issued in Benin on Saturday, August 29, 2026, Prof. Ize-Iyamu thanked God for the Governor’s life and good health, while commending his determination, candour and genuine concern for the people of Edo State.

The UBTH CMD particularly praised Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to healthcare, noting that investment in the sector goes beyond providing infrastructure and equipment, as it protects lives, restores hope and gives families confidence in accessing quality medical care.

She said: “Your Excellency, your commitment to healthcare deserves special commendation. When government invests in healthcare, it does more than build facilities or provide equipment; it protects lives, restores hope and assures families that, when illness comes, they will have access to the care they need.”

Prof. Ize-Iyamu said UBTH deeply values its partnership with the Edo State Government, expressing confidence that stronger collaboration between both institutions would expand access to quality healthcare, strengthen specialised services and better address the healthcare needs of Edo residents.

Reflecting on her relationship with the Governor, she said: “Our relationship over the years, both personal and official, has given me the privilege of appreciating the man behind the office your determination, your candour and your genuine concern for the progress and wellbeing of our people. I am therefore particularly delighted to celebrate you today.”

She prayed that God would preserve Governor Okpebholo in good health, grant him wisdom and strength to discharge the responsibilities of office, and continue to guide him in the service of Edo State.

“May this new year bring you renewed grace, fulfilment and the satisfaction of seeing your efforts translate into better lives for the people of Edo State.
“Happy Birthday, Your Excellency,” the CMD added.
