NRS Commends UBTH Management for Financial Accountability, Revenue Compliance

The management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, on Monday, September 14, 2026, received a delegation from the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) on a courtesy visit to the hospital.

The visit provided an opportunity for the NRS delegation to commend UBTH management for its commitment to financial accountability, effective revenue generation and compliance with statutory revenue obligations.

The NRS delegation, led by the Director, Government Business Department, Abuja, Mr. Space Salami, who represented the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr. Zacch Adelabu Adedeji, praised the hospital’s commitment to its financial and revenue-related responsibilities.

Salami noted that UBTH’s efforts demonstrated a strong sense of institutional responsibility and accountability, describing the hospital’s performance as worthy of formal recognition.
Responding, Prof. Ize-Iyamu appreciated the NRS delegation for the visit and recognition, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to transparency, accountability, prudent resource management and continuous improvement in its operations.

The CMD also emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration between UBTH and the NRS, noting that partnerships that promote accountability, efficiency and institutional sustainability remain essential to the hospital’s continued growth.

She expressed the hospital’s readiness to deepen its engagement with the revenue service and uphold the standards expected of a leading tertiary healthcare institution.

The meeting was attended by members of the hospital’s Core Management Team, including Jim Uwadiae, Esq., Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Clinicals), Dr Philip Osho, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Research and Ethics), Prof. Adebola Ehizele and Director of Nursing Services, Mrs Grace Arheghan.

The NRS visit further underscored the importance of sound financial management and compliance in strengthening institutional efficiency and sustainability within the public healthcare sector.
