In a determined effort to restore order, cleanliness, and public safety, the Edo State Waste Management Board, in collaboration with the Edo State Task Force, the Edo State Security Corps, and the Edo State Transport Regulatory Authority, carried out a joint enforcement and sensitization exercise at New Benin Market in Benin City.
The operation focused on the removal of street traders obstructing roads and walkways, curbing indiscriminate waste disposal, and addressing the illegal parking of vehicles that contribute to traffic congestion and environmental degradation within and around the market area.
During the exercise, officials engaged traders, motorists, and residents on the importance of complying with existing laws and regulations aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer, and more organized environment. Defaulters were warned that violations of waste management and public order regulations will no longer be tolerated.
The Edo State Government remains resolute in its commitment to restoring sanity across the state, and this exercise forms part of a broader strategy to create a cleaner, safer, and more orderly Edo State. Residents, traders, transport operators, and business owners are therefore urged to support government efforts by disposing of waste responsibly, refraining from street trading in unauthorized locations, and complying with traffic and parking regulations.
The Edo State Waste Management Board also expresses its profound appreciation to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his unwavering commitment to environmental sanitation, public safety, and urban renewal. His administration’s vision and support continue to drive initiatives that promote sustainable environmental practices, responsible civic behavior, and improved quality of life for all Edo residents.
This initiative is not a one-off exercise but a sustained campaign to ensure lasting cleanliness and orderliness across the state. Achieving a cleaner and more prosperous Edo State requires a collective effort from both government and citizens.
Together, let us play our part in building the Edo State of our dreams clean, safe, orderly, and prosperous for all.
