He made the call while serving as a panelist at the Edo State Tourism Agency’s Stakeholders’ Engagement, where he spoke on the theme, “Community-Based Tourism Development, Preservation and Climate ,Change.”
Speaking during tession, Amb. Dr. Lucky ,Enehita-Inegbenehi emphasized the inseparable link between environmental sustainability and tourism, noting that community-based tourism can only thrive in clean, healthy environments with well-preserved cultural heritage and natural resources. He warned that climate change, biodiversity loss, and poor waste management pose significant threats to these valuable assets, stressing that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility.
The Managing Director highlighted the Board’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability across Edo State through sustained public sensitisation campaigns, market pto market advocacy, and the expansion of waste management services to all 18 Local Government Areas. He also pointed to the transformation of previously neglected areas through consistent waste evacuation and sanitation interventions, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to creating cleaner, healthier, and more livable communities.
Looking ahead, Amb. Dr. Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi disclosed plans to establish recycling facilities across the state, with the long-term vision of extending recycling infrastructure to every Local Government Area. He urged residents to support registered waste collectors and embrace responsible waste disposal practices, noting that collective action remains the key to building a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Edo State.
He concluded by reaffirming the Board’s commitment to working with stakeholders and communities to protect the environment, strengthen tourism, and secure a healthier future for generations to come.
