Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), said on Wednesday that he has what it takes to tackle insecurity if elected as the governor of Edo State.
Umakhihe said this at his campaign train visit to Uhunmwode (Ehor), Esan West (Ekpoma), and Esan Central (Irrua) in Edo Central senatorial districts.
According to him, he has a background in security and strategy, and he will ensure that farmers go back to the farms, which will be his first priority when elected.
“The purpose why I am here today is to beg you people to see what I have done single-handedly.
”The first thing I will tackle is security if elected, so that the farmers can go back to their farms again, because I have the security strategy, which I cannot disclose here.
But it has to do with intelligence gathering, which I know how to tackle, and I will ensure that farmers are able to go back to the farms.
The governorship aspirant, however, pleaded that he had been committed to the party for over 2 years and that they should nominate him in the primaries.
”Since 2021, I have been a full member of the APC.
“I got my membership card that year when the Supreme Court said civil servants can join political groups, but in your work, don’t be partisan if you join any of the political parties.
“Since then, I have been supporting the party in my local government, and during the last chairmanship election, I sent money to the 18 local governments.
I know we lost the election, but I tried to help every local government to make sure that we succeeded even though it did not happen.
He, however, said that he was passionate about serving the people and should be given the opportunity.
